The bank attributed this decline to lower net interest income on lower loan balances and lower mortgage banking income. Despite this, Wells Fargo generated mortgage banking non-interest income of $243 million, showing some positive results in this segment.

Overall, JPMorgan delivered $18 billion in profits in the second quarter, with CEO Jamie Dimon acknowledging the challenges posed by inflation and interest rates. Wells Fargo reported $4.9 billion in net income, while Citi delivered $3.2 billion during the period.
